SPRINGHILL - Their bags are packed and the Springhill High's Sr. Lady Golden Eagles are on their way to Digby where they will defend their title as provincial champions this weekend.

In their fifth bid to carry the title of provincial champs in seven years, the Lady Golden Eagles are first seed in the three-day tournament, which begins Thurs, and runs to Sat.

At this stage of the game, Co-coach Charlie Chamber says, it's anyone's game.

"Is any particular team a concern? All of them," Chambers said. "I hope we play up to our capabilities. We've had a good season."

The Eagles claimed their 11th NSSAF Northumberland Division III regional championship last month in Guysborough with an 87-37 victory over the Hants North Flames. It was their 11th win in 12 years.

The Eagles are competing against the Cape Breton Highland Academy Huskies, Dalbrae Dragons, host Digby Mariners, Halifax Grammar Gryphons, King's Edgehill, New Germany Saints and the Shelburne Rebels for the NSSAG title and will begin in Game 3, when they take to the court against the Mariners.
